The Rise of the Vase!

A couple of weeks ago, on my birthday I found this in a charity shop. All i know is its very pretty and from Belguim.It may be original art noeveau or it may be a recent reproduction.
Unfortunatly as I was coming up the stairs to the flat I lost my footing and it got broken. Tears were shed.

M carefully carried the pieces to his parents house and he and his father endeavored to stick it back together again.Its now sitting on the mantlepiece with M's horrible bunch of plastic flowers in it till I can get some peacock feathers to go in it.

The side facing forward is the lesser damaged, the major crack being in the shadow of the the bulbous part of it. The cracks on the other side are worse with some small fragments missing but I can still keep peacock feathers or dried flowers in it.

Batty things!

I got this amazing ROAK from Linda and her daughter Erin as well as a really lovely hand drawn card made by Erin.

Its a CQ bat! She has been named Belinda the Bat and is sitting in pride of place on top of my computer monitor.


They also sent me these really cool perle threads and lace!Aren't the colours wonderful?

Beaded Clay Faces

A while ago I mentioned making some polymer clay faces following this tutorial. I finally got the art doll face mould I was after and these are the ones I've made so far!There are also some using the character doll face mould I got as well. All are made using Sculptey.


This is using one of the smaller Character faces using flesh coloured sculptey covered in gold acrylic with larger pearlescent red beads, red seed beads and silver lined silver black beads.
This is another one of the tiny character faces in flesh coloured sculptey. Larger beads are in peacock colours and some green seed beads.
This is a "green man" made using another of the character face moulds with flesh coloured scupltey covered in green acrylic. There are two different sizes of green seed beads and three different shades of metallic leaf beads.

This is one of the art doll faces. I really love the shape so have made several of them. This is black sculptey and red beads.
This is flesh coloured sculptey with matt orange larger seed beads and two rows of some bronze coloured seed beads.
This is purple sculpty (it has glitter in it because I'd used mica silver sculptey earlier and some was still on my fingers.)With purple lustre beads and silver lined black seed beads.

I am really pleased with these and plan to make some more!Hope you enjoy looking at them!

Look at these goodies

My Oriental bag swap bag from Jo in NZ has arrived and Wowee! Its absolutly stunning!

The work on it is beautiful and am so proud to own it!
On this side she's done the most amazing kimono shaped piecing in lovely shades of green and burgundy with lots of pinky purple SRE roses and the most beautiful delicate stitching on all the seams.
This side has an amazing amount of detail including a pine tree, a fan, SRE cherry blossom ( i LOVE cherry blossom) and some really cool coin charms.

This is the heart Jo made a while back and I fell in love with! I made her an insect heart which she loves too!

She sent me these three huge balls of lovely coloured perle threads!

These lovely sequins with a lovely peacock shade. Am going to make some sequined flowers using the tutorial Jo has on her blog. Its on her sidebar if you are interested.She sent me some more of the coin charms that she had used on my bag!Ones definetly going on the oriental present am going to make my mum for christmas!


These are some amazing brilliant blue beads with an AB sheen on them.


These are some really cool snowflake sequins. Shall hopefully use them on a current xmas project.
I had to get her to tell me what this is! Its a Wine Bottle Cooler!Isn't it cute!

I feel so throughly cared for and spoiled rotten!

Suffolk Puffs

I've recently rediscovered an interesting textile technique known as Suffolk Puffs or YoYo's. These originate (or so i was lead to believe as a child in my home county of suffolk.

I'm slowly pulling together some information on them but information seems few and far between.

I'm thinking of making polymer clay faces with them behind them...perhaps in some irridescent voiley fabrics?...shall post pictures when I've done some!

Hurrah! I'm back!

I have returned! My new computer has arrived and is all silver and black! It just needs a name now!(Don't laugh! All my computers have had names!) My digi camera has a name too, though its normally "Work, You B$@£%*#d"....

Ok, while I've been off in the real world this is what's been happening. Various events have occured including discovering I'm anemic, my sciatica rearing its ugly head again and my birthday happpening, so some good, some bad.

Birthday was very fun. There was presents, going out for lunch and some shopping.Mark bought me these flowers.

I found this pewter teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug in the local charity shop for £5 (roughly $8 - $10ish US dollars i think). They were made between 1912 and 1919 and are made by 'Period Pewter'.

I finished my bag for Jo in NZ . These are her photos as I forgot to take any. I hope she doesn't mind me using them.

I was worried she wouldn't like it but apparently she adores it.

I got a parcel from Shay and made these with the ribbon she sent me. Its a sheath for my embroidery scissors. Its made with purple cotton and is lined with felt.On this side are woven spiderweb roses, straight stitch rose buds and lazy daisy leaves
This is an Iris made of lazy daisy and twisted leaf stitch, accented with fern stitch and some straight stitch star flowers. All thread is green perle cotton.
This is it with my scissors. I made it large enough that there is enough space for the scissors and for it to go in my bag without the scissors getting caught on things.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery

Last week I recieved a very nice parcel from a lady called Shay. In it were some silk ribbons, chenille needles, and a book on SRE called Chris Rankins Spendid Silk Ribbon Embroidery.

In the evenings over the last few days I've been teaching myself how to do the stitches, and have to say that I am in love with this form of embroidery. Its so simple and you get almost instant results.

I'll post pictures of what I've been doing when I get my computer running again.

As part of my birthday present my mum has bought me this huge present from Threadarts ebay store:

500 metres of 4mm silk ribbon -








Isn't it pretty? Within the next fortnight this will be coming through my door!Then i have not only enough ribbon to keep me going for a while but all these pretty colours!
I have a strange love of antique pink and peach colours at the moment. I've never been a person for these shades before though. Anyway. Will post with some pictures of what I've been doing once my new computer arrives.
